The Joshua Tree Retreat Center at the Institute of Mentalphysics will hold a community drum circle celebrating the Summer Solstice on Thursday, June 20, from 7 to 9pm on the patio in front of the Sanctuary (building with tall spire) ; it will move indoors in the event of cold, rain, or high wind.
The gathering is facilitated by well-known Morongo Basin percussionist Sam Sloneker. Participants are encouraged to bring drums, shakers, tambourines, etc.; a number of instruments will also be available at the event.

The 5th Annual Joshua Tree Gay Pride Festival is set for Saturday, June 15, from 11am to 11pm at the Art Queen Complex and and surrounding venues Joshua Tree Saloon, Trailer Trash and Courtyard, The Station.

Local recording artist Dana Larson will headline the continuous community entertainment featured at this years Grubstake Days Community Fair. The 63rd annual event is set for Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Hi-Desert Boys and Girls Club and Brehm Youth Park grounds on Little League Drive in Yucca Valley.
Grubstake Days is not being held at the Yucca Valley Community Center this year because of construction. Admission and parking are free. The outside booths and entertainment area will open immediately following the Grubstake Days Parade and run until 5pm.

Harrison House Music & Arts will present artists-in-residence Nyoman & Nanik Wenten and 40 members of the CalArts Balinese Gamelan Burat Wangi under the moonrise on Saturday, May 25 at 8:30 pm.
Twenty-five musicans and fifteen dancers will grace the new outdoor stage at Harrison House in a colorful spectacle of instruments, costumes, music and dance.
